Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ Spray-On is a premium, easy-to-use waterproofer designed specifically for softshell jackets, trousers, and outdoor apparel. It enhances performance, revives breathability, and restores the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) that keeps you comfortable and dry — even in wet and windy British conditions.
This non-flammable, PFC-free, and aerosol-free treatment is simple to apply by hand, ideal for precise reproofing of high-wear areas like seams, elbows, and shoulders.

Why Use This Product
Softshell garments are highly versatile, combining the flexibility and breathability of fleece with the weather protection of hardshells. However, over time, their Durable Water Repellency (DWR) wears off, causing the outer fabric to absorb moisture and lose up to 70% of its breathability.
Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ Spray-On restores this vital water-repellent finish while maintaining breathability, ensuring your gear continues to perform and protect you in wet weather.
Your softshell may simply be wetting out because it’s dirty. First, clean it with Nikwax Tech Wash® — this alone may revive the DWR if your garment is still fairly new. For more worn gear, apply Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ Spray-On after cleaning to fully restore its waterproofing performance.
When to Use Wash-In Instead
If your softshell doesn’t have a wicking lining, opt for Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ Wash-In instead. It ensures full coverage through a machine-wash application. However, for softshells with wicking linings, this spray-on version is ideal, as it preserves wicking ability while reproofing the exterior.
How to Use

Shake well before use.

Clean first: Use Nikwax Tech Wash® to remove dirt and detergent residues.

Protect surfaces from overspray.

Spray evenly onto a clean, wet garment from about 15cm away.

Wait 5 minutes, then remove any excess with a damp cloth.

Air dry (or tumble dry on low if care label allows) — no heat required to activate DWR.
